BESTE GOLD'S SIRE

Belucci was sired by Bolero (see information below), who had a profound impact on the Hanoverian breed before he died at the early age of 12 years. Bolero sired 51 approved sons and numerous State Premium Mares as well as champion riding horses and the highest price horses at the auctions. Although he died early, he yet ranked third (1990) in (Germany's) national dressage ranking of his age group. Bolero continually produced horses with good shoulders, withers, modern toplines and elastic action. Belucci's dam sire Grande was one of the top G-line sires in the 70's and 80's. Grande produced over 40 approved sons and many of the most successful competition horses in Europe in both dressage and jumping. Belucci was licensed in Adelheidsdorf. He was then sold to Denmark, where he was a successful FEI level Grand Prix dressage horse. In 1994, Belucci was imported to the United States. Like the infamous Brentano II, Breitling W, Baryshnikov, and other famous B line stallions, Belucci's offspring exhibit the many noble qualities of their pedigree. He last stood at Heritage Farms in Washington state until his death in 2006.

He was on his way to the state stud at Celle until he was purchased and imported to the United States as a top dressage competitor. BESTE GOLD'S MATERNAL
GREAT GRANDSIRE
Grundstein I

The legendary Grand Prix Dressage Stallion Grundstein, was imported to the US in 1985 after siring 13 fully approved breeding stallions in Germany. He was the leading sire in the FN rankings among stallions in the top 10% of their age group in both jumping and dressage for many years. In 1995 Grundstein's dressage index was and incredible 178 matched only by his impressive jumping index of 142. The American born Elite Stallion Gold Luck ( 3/4 sibling to Beste Gold's dam and bred by my mother) and his rare and valued daughters represent him in the USA as a popular choice for Hanoverian breeders.

Re: Grundstein
By Dr Ludwig Christmann of the Verband hannoverscher Warmblutzüchter in 1995

.. So it is confirmed week by week the G-line is and will be Hanover's performance line No. 1, the high performance ability of the legendary sires Grande and Gotthard lives on in the grandsons and granddaughters. What their secret is can hardly be fathomed: as foals descendant from the G-line may not be as eye-catching as others and show less spectacular movements. On the other hand the centre of strength in their loins is often particularly strongly marked. They have this particular strength in their backs-at the same time keeping the absolutely necessary elasticity - which is essential in both jumping and dressage horses of high levels. And character plays an important part- the willingness to perform and to make more of an effort when it really gets tough. The G- line is a treasure which is far from being discovered by many of us. When taking a look at the most sought after sires there are only a few with the initial G among them although there are quite a number of younger stallions from this line who meet higher standards regarding type and conformation. Since breeders have to produce horses which they are able to sell afterwards we appeal above all to rearers and riders to trust even more in the power of these performance genes. Seek your treasure!

Re: Absatz
from the American Hanoverian Society Yearbook

Doubtlessly the most influential son of Abglanz was Absatz. During his lifetime he sired 40 licensed stallions, 82 States Premium Mares and over 400 registered mares. According to the VhW, “Absatz was one of the most famous Hanoverian stallions in his time, if not of all time.” Dr. Ludwig Christmann pays tribute to Absatz by stating: “Absatz is one of the stallions who had the biggest influence in changing the appearance of Hanoverians to a more modern, elegant type.” Absatz founded the dynasty that lives on today as one of the most important bloodlines of all time in the Hanoverian breed.

Re: Bolero
from Dressage Today magazine

Bolero's dramatic influence is made all the more remarkable by the fact that he died of a heart attack at the age of 12, when German breeders were just beginning to appreciate the potential he had as a sire. Bolero passed on his noble attitude and rhythmic gaits, producing outstanding, elegant dressage horses who have proven particularly successful when bred to Hanoverian G- and D-line mares.

Bolero was by Black Sky, a Thoroughbred who produced very rideable dressage horses. Bolero's success contradicted the popular belief of breeders at that time, which held that breeding a mare by a Thoroughbred with a Thoroughbred stallion would not produce successful offspring. But, in fact, Thoroughbred influences contributed to the breeding of dressage horses from that point onward and proved to be one of the main factors in producing more elegant, lighter dressage horses. Bolero's dam was Baronesse, a Hanoverian mare out of the mare Atlastaube (by Athos and out of Fliegerheil) who produced the popular sires Grenadier, Hitchcock and Winner.....
.......It would seem that since his bloodlines made their initial impact on the dressage world, Bolero has been represented by his sons, grandsons and their progeny on an annual basis. In fact, no less than 20 of the 52 dressage horses that competed in the 2004 Olympics were Hanoverians, and some of the main medal contenders were descended from Bolero. It is an impressive record and one that breeders ignore at their own peril.
